Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony (Tony) Edward Shetina will be at 10am Wednesday November 22 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 316 Fifth Street, Fairport Harbor.

Friends will be received from Tuesday November 21, 2017  2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 312 Eagle Street, Fairport Harbor.

A lifelong resident of Fairport, Tony was born May 3, 1927 and passed away November 18 at the David Simpson House in Cleveland.

Tony and his family have been a fixture in their hometown where they owned and operated the Fairport Waterfront Store for many years.  He was also a millwright and union steward at the Diamond Shamrock for almost 30 years and a bailiff for the City of Painesville. Tony served in the United States Army during WW II.

Tony was an active member of St Anthony of Padua Church where he sang in the choir and was an adult alter server.

He will be remembered for being an active supporter of local Democratic politics, serving as a village councilman and local advisor.  He was an avid fan of the Fairport Skippers (just ask the referees) and an original and active member of the American Slovenian Club.  Tony and his wife Rita were honored with the Village's Outstanding Senior Citizens Award in 2005.

Mr. Shetina is survived by his daughters Linda (Will) Logan and Christy (Michael) Powell both of Columbus, Ohio; son Tom (Lee) Shetina of Mentor, Ohio; grandchildren Patrick (Emily) Randle and Luke Randle of Columbus: Tony Shetina of Mentor and Rachel Shetina of Euclid; and great-granddaughter Sophia Randle.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Rita (Fundermark) Shetina; his parents Joseph and Mary (Avsec); sister Mary and brothers Frank, Joseph and John.

His family will miss him dearly, but his zest for life and love of polkas will carry on.

Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fairport Skippers Athletic Boosters and St. Anthony of Padua Church.
