Donald Richard (“Don”) Kerver, age 93, passed away on December 26, 2016 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby, with his family at his side.  The son of Henry and Amelia (Schreiber) Kerver was born on August 18, 1923, in Garfield, OH.  He resided in Northeast Ohio most of his life prior to retiring to Whispering Pines, NC., where he lived for 32 years.

Mr. Kerver graduated from Garfield Hts., High School and Baldwin Wallace College, where he was captain of the baseball team.  He served his country in World War II with the U.S. Army’s Signal Corp in Europe.  He enjoyed being around baseball fields his whole life.  Donald played amateur baseball with the Cleveland Class “A” Baseball League well into his 40’s.  He also coached baseball in the Connie Mack Little League and Pony League.

Donald is survived by his sons, Dale (Judith) Kerver of Painesville and Keith (Margaret “Peggy”) Kerver; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jon) Lux, Alyssa (Josh) Hornby, Nicholas, Luke, Julianne and Jack; and great grandson, Logan Hornby. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion (Schultz) Kerver in 2010, his brother, Elmer Kerver, and sister, Florence.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 20th at 11:00 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church Columbarium in Southern Pines, North Carolina.   Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 15, from 2 to 6 PM at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, OH.
