Mass of Christian Burial for James E. Beuley, age 81, of Painesville Township, will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3rd, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 523 Plum Street, Fairport Harbor. The Reverend Peter Mihalic will officiate.
Jim passed away at home on March 27, 2018. Born June 18, 1936, in Wolf Summit, West Virginia, he was raised in the Collinwood area before building his family home in Wickliffe in 1960 where he resided until moving to Painesville Township in 2000.
Jim attended St. Joe’s High School and Fenn College and worked as a surveyor at Frank A. Thomas Engineering and later became a partner in the company. Jim was the co-owner of Lake Engineering before he decided to change careers in 1982, when he decided to open Shelley’s Restaurant & Lounge in Cleveland Heights. Shelley’s was famous for their ribs and fish fries and was the local watering hole for many friends and family members for ten years. In 1992, he became the Chief Surveyor of Lake County, where he retired in 2002.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, Veronica (“Ronnie”). Jim and Ronnie celebrated 63 years of marriage in December. He is also survived by his children, James (Terri) of Willowick; Daniel (Pam) of Wickliffe; Michele Leslie (Brian) of Painesville Township; and daughter-in-law, Karen Beuley of Euclid, Ohio. Jim is also survived by his two grandchildren that he adored, Gunnar Beuley and Micayla Gray (Zack). He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Beuley, and parents, James and Geneva Beuley.
Jim will be remembered for his Irish spirit and drive and his love of golf. He conquered what he put his mind to and he loved quietly and deeply. Jim will never be defined by the cancer that he battled for nine years. The hearts and souls of those who loved Jim are tied together in a lasting bond that cancer can never take away.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 2nd, at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio 44077. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 523 Plum Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio 44077.
