Private Graveside Services were held for Myron F. “Gunny” Mlachak at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.

Myron was born August 20, 1930 in Cleveland and passed away June 20, 2017  in Concord Township with his family at his side.

Gunny retired from the U. S. Marine Corps after 20 years (1948-1968).  Gunny began his career as a Marine fighting at Chosen Reservoir, Korea and ended it fighting at Khe Sanh, Vietnam.  Two of the iconic battles in Marine Corps History.  During the remaining 20 years he served in the Lebanon conflict, and saw 32 Countries and every State in the Union except Alaska. A patriot who placed God, Country and Family above all.

After retiring from the Corps he became a golf pro at Grantwood Country Club (Solon, OH) and then Painesville Country Club.  After leaving Painesville Country Club he embarked on numerous diverse adventures.  Myron and his love of his life Thelma enjoyed traveling, especially to  his Marine Corps Reunions, gardening, their birds, watching the hawks, “ Mr. & Mrs. Herman,” his collies, daily gin games with his “Darling” and all the Acey Ducey games with his brother Chick.

Things his kids remember most:

If the ape is tearing down the flag then you’re in trouble. Naked Pizza. Throw the bones out the window to feed the raccoons. Its noon someplace. Your children are your monument. If I was any better I’d be perfect. Get over here so I can look at you.  Slugs. Chocolate ice cream. Ripped up rain suit; 13 and old Ford; Christmas Eve, A Spare tire, and A snow bank. Sunshine.  4-2-9. Who is everybody. Pinky’s.  My Shadow.   I Love You.

He is survived by the love of his life, Thelma Mlachak; sons, Myron (Paula) Mlachak, and Mark (Donna) Mlachak; daughters, Debbie (Ken) Wheeler, Wendy (Alan) Delisio and Shirley Ann Mlachak; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald (Nancy) Mlachak; sisters, Marcia Mlachak and Connie Keough and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Gunny was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Frances (Goeheli) Mlachak, brothers, Harvey, Norman and Dennis Mlachak; and his sister Evelyn Gordon.
