Robert " Bob" John August

Funeral Services for Robert John August, age 79, a forty-seven-year resident of Painesville, will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Lakeside Baptist Church 306 Fairport Nursery Road, Painesville.  Rev. Arlie Spargur will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville Twp.

Robert was born in Barnesboro, PA on March 21, 1938 to John and Anna (Andyshak) August.  He was a graduate of Penns-Manor Joint High School in Pines Flats, PA.  Bob served in the U S NAVY, July of 1957 until August of 1959 on the USS Hunt.  He started his career at Towmotor, Corporation as a Punch Press Operator in 1964 and married the love of his life on May 29, 1964, Jean Alice Sanner.  With many promotions, he finished his career as a Master Machine Repairman for Caterpillar in 1999.  He was a proud UAW member and the most patriotic American we knew. Bob became a Christian and was baptized in 1979.  He was a Trustee/Usher and volunteered as a Grounds Keeper at Lakeside Baptist Church.  He was a wildlife adventurist and avid hunter and fisherman.  His brother, Mick; best buddy, Lacy Martin along with good friends Eddie Andrews and Joe Korney spent all of their free time pursuing these passions in Tionesta, Titusville, DuBois and surrounding areas in PA.

He is survived by his son, Robert (Marta) August Jr. of Concord; daughter, Robin (Raleigh) Guice of Shaker Heights; son, Gary (Lynda) Lewellyn of Garland TX; daughter, Cynthia (Doug) Tipton of Waxahachie, TX; daughter, Catherine (William) August-Wicks of Victory Mills, NY; grandchildren, Gretchen  & Erik, Danielle & Elizabeth, Angela & Tyler, Zachary, Trey & Samantha, Samuel & Jeremiah and brother Michael Louis August of Amherst, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents; brothers, George M. August, James August and sister Anna May Novotny.

The family is most thankful for the UH doctors, nurses, and staff who attended to his health and the Hospice of the Western Reserve for the comfort and care they provided to not only Bob but also his late wife Jean.
