Services for Samuel W. Grimes, Sr. will be held on Thursday, May 26 at the Spear –Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue in Painesville.    The Reverend Douglas Reeder of Calvary Baptist Church will preside. Friends will be received from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday. Samuel was born March 20, 1929 in Tunnelton, West Virginia to William and Ella (McGinnis) Grimes.  He passed away May 22, 2016 at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland surrounded by his family.

Samuel graduated from Tunnelton High School in 1947. He worked on the W Va. Northern Railroad in Tunnelton for 21 years and was a chemical engineer for Lubrizol in Painesville for 25 years. He enjoyed camping, wood working and always helping those in need.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and great great-grandfather

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Harriet (McGee) Grimes; Son, Samuel W. Grimes, Jr. of Wickliffe; Daughters:   Ellen Lee of Youngstown, Cheryl (Jose) Becerra of Saybrook Township, and Tami Grimes of Painesville;10 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren,and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Brothers, Benson, Fred, Donald and John (Calvin) Grimes; Sisters, Letty Brown, Catherine Linaburg and Mary Hyatt.
