William was born January 11, 1942 in Cleveland and passed away April 3, 2017 at his residence in Painesville.
Bill was a 1962 graduate of Benedictine High School, served in the U. S. Army in Korea and retired from the Ohio National Guard. He retired from the Lake County Building and Grounds Department in 2005.
He had a full and active life, he was a member of St Mary Church, the Catholic War Veterans, and Knights of Columbus Council 947 (4th degree). He was a volunteer for Lake Metro Parks and the R.S.V.P. Group, which helps seniors get involved with volunteering. Bill was also a Scout Master for Troop 64 and he worked on the citizenship badge program for the Eagle Scouts. He was a past member of St Mary PTO and NDCL Parent Organization. He coached sports teams and worked Bingo at St. Mary’s. He also loved travelling with his family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Cottos) Varga, whom he married August 5, 1967; children, Kim (Paul) Gress, Major Kristine (Christopher) Yearwood, Phd., Keith Varga and Kellie (George Garcia) Varga; grandchildren, Gabriella, Jose and Jorje; brother, Richard Varga; nephew, Christopher Varga.
He was preceded in death by his parents William J. and Margaret (Chappy) Varga.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill’s memory to St. Mary Church or to the “college fund” at Lake County Employees Credit Union for his grandchildren.
