Mass of Christian Burial for James E. (Jim) Lorenczi, age 87, will be 11:00 AM, Monday, January 28, 2019 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 521 Plum Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio. Friends will be received at the Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 27, 2019.
A lifelong resident of Fairport Harbor, Jim was born on November 14, 1931 to Joseph and Bertha (Lengyel) Lorenczi.
Jim was employed at Bill Smith Oldsmobile for 35 years. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church where he was active in church ministries. He was also active in numerous community organizations including the Fairport Men’s Civic Club, Fairport Mardi Gras, Fairport Harbor Senior Center, Fairport Village Council, and the Lake County Council of Governments. Jim also started and coached the Fairport Girls Softball League in the 1970’s. You would often find Jim somewhere around town selling tickets for various organizations.
Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce (McLee) Lorenczi; children, James Lorenczi and partner David Dare of Olmsted Township, and Michelle (Jim) Babcock of Mentor; brothers, Richard (Patricia) Lorenczi of Florida, and Joseph Lorenczi of Virginia; sister, Betty Roll of Florida; grandchildren, Kari (Dallas) Stewart, Michael Babcock, Samantha (Greg) Bailey, and Krista (Daniel) Braun; great grandchildren, Dallas, Isaac, Emma, Mia, Daniel, Rylee and Caleb; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bertha; brother, Zoltan, and sister, Margaret.
