Mary Jane (Schafer) Snider

Funeral Services for Mary Jane Snider, 87, of Newbury, formerly of Painesville, will be 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 28th at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.  Family and friends may call 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, prior to the service.

Mary Jane was born June 27, 1930 in Cleveland and passed away March 25, 2018 at UHHS Geauga Hospital in Claridon Township.

Mary Jane was a graduate of St. Mary School and Villa Maria High School.  She worked as a model for Ronnie Harris and in the dietary department for the former Garfield Manor.  She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, and loved to refinish furniture.  Mary Jane was an Elvis Presley fan and loved listening to his music.  She was a member of the Eastern Star of Painesville, Temple Lodge #28 and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Charles Snider, whom she married, September 17, 1948; son, Steve (Sheila) Snider; daughter, Jane (Rick) Button; sister, Marion Charrette; grandchildren, Brian, Bridget, Rachel, Sarah, Justin, Hannah, Carissa and Vanessa; twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice “Morris” and Anna (Gallagher) Schafer; daughter, Barbara Polewchak; son-in-law, Tony Polewchak; grandson, John Polewchak, one sister and six brothers.

The family would like to thank the staff of Holly Hill Nursing Home for all their care and kindness they showed Mary Jane over the years.
