Mass of Christian Burial for William M. Baxter. 39, of Painesville, will be 9:30 AM, Friday, September 28, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville, OH. Family and friends will be received, 4:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, September 27th at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, OH. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
William was born August 28, 1979 in Painesville and passed away September 21, 2018.
He proudly served in the U. S. Marine Corps for 21 years retiring as Sgt. Major/1st Sgt. He joined the Marines immediately after he finished high school. He was awarded the meritorious service medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with Combat V ), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4),Combat Action Ribbon (Iraq),Combat Action Ribbon (Turkey), Presidential Unit Citation-Navy Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation (5) Navy meritorious Unit Commendation.
Marine good Conduct medal, National defense Service Medal, Kosova, Campaign Medal, Afghanistan, Campaign Medal, (with 1 star), Iraq Campaign Medal (with 3 stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, NATO Medal, Certificate of Commendation (Individual Award), Letter of Appreciation, Meritorious Mast., Expert Rifle Qualification Badge, Sharpshooter Pistol Qualification Badge, Good Conduct Medal .
He participated in Operation Shining Hope in Albania, Joint Guardian Kosovo, Enduring Freedom Kuwait, Iraq Freedom, Enduring Freedom Afghanistan,
William also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his sons, Maddox, Brady and Bentlee Baxter; father, William (Tina) Baxter; brothers, Michael Krebs, Kevin (Kendall) Krebs; and step-brother, Cory (Riselle) Young; sister, Kaliegh (Ian) Allen; maternal grandmother, Marilyn (Tillman) Russell.
William was preceded in death by his mother, Lisa Marie (Russell) King; maternal grandfather, Lee Russell; and paternal grandmother, Josephine Baxter.
