Alan "Butch" Covert, 75, of Painesville Township, passed away October 7, 2014 at the Veterans Administrations (VA) hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Born February 5th, 1939 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he attended Harvey High School (Painesville, Oh) and formerly resided in Mentor for 32 years. Butch was a multiple-star athlete at Harvey and a sports fanatic throughout his lifetime. Butch was also an Army veteran. Throughout his years, he loved to play cards, games, golf and enjoyed traveling to casinos. Butch spent his lifetime in the restaurant business starting with his parents as the owners of Hellriegal's Inn in Painesville, Ohio. Butch, married to his late wife andbest friend Jeanene Covert for 37 wonderful years, were the long-time owners of Mentor Lunch and The Perfect Match in Mentor, Ohio. They retired in 1999. Butch met many, wonderful longtime friends during those days. He has held great memories he has always cherished from back then. Butch continued to do catering work until the time of his passing. Butch is survived by his wife, Barbara Ohl Hilston, sons Doug (Chris) Covert, James (April) Ockington and Scott (Lisa) Ockington, grandchildren, twins Jared and Justin Covert and sister, Annabel Kropac-Kochever. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Frances Covert, grandson Michael Ockington, late wife, Jeanene, and brother Art Covert. The family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Butch from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home of Painesville, 667 Mentor Ave, Painesville, Ohio.
