Funeral services for Alton Dodds, age 91, will be 11:00 am Friday at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Avenue Painesville with Rev. Tom Chapman officiating. Friends will be received from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

A resident of Leroy Twp. for many years, Alton was born on April 21, 1923 in Niles, Michigan and passed away peacefully of Feb. 13, 2015 at Altercare of Mentor Rehab Center.

Mr. Dodds was a retired Millwright for the former Local Union 1871 He loved working with his hands creating master pieces like Grandfather Clocks, Roll Topped Desks, and anything else from wood. He also was an avid sports fan.

Alton served in the US Army during World War II participating in the European Theatre

Mr. Dodds was a quick witted and gentle man, who enjoyed everyone he came in contact with. He is survived by, Children, Cheryl Batchelor of Louisville, TN Neil (Marg) Dodds of Tiburon, CA Mark (Karen) Dodds of Kent Linden (Nanette) Dodds of Mentor Jeanna (John Gregory) Dodds of Livermore, CA Seven Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren also survive Sister, Mildred Gedeon Preceded in death by, Wife, Ivalue (Kreachman) Dodds whom he was married to for 68 years and 29 days Son-in-Law, Norman Batchelor Parents, Robert and Mary Elizabeth (Hoffman) Dodd Siblings, Howard, Grant, Wesley, Neil, Robert, and Martin Dodd, Annabelle Wiltshire, Lena Donnelly, Courtland, Dodd, Marion Bixler, Bessie Dodd, Florence Gallagher, and Phyllis Cypher
