Barbara Gardren, age 91, passed away August 24, 2022, at Tri-Point Medical Center in Concord Township.  She was born June 15, 1931, in Martin's Ferry, Ohio to Victor and June (Dolney) Mattern.

Barbara was a volunteer at Tri-Point Hospital for many years.  She worked for West Liberty College as a secretary.  She also worked at Sam and Tommy's Tavern and King Street Dog Grooming.

Barbara was a member of VFW Post 7754 in Fairport.  She enjoyed going dancing with her husband at Painesville Township Park.  But most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Frank) Trader and Jill (Keith) Backus; brother Ron (Mary) Mattern; sisters, Gloria McCormick and Betty Jean Mattern; grandchildren, Nanette (Todd) Karako, Rachel (Jason) Boehm and Renee (Jimmy) Bryson; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson "Rock" Garden in 1989; son, David Nelson Garden in 2013; brother, Roy Mattern; sister, Nada Harriet Mattern; fiancé, Frank Gornichec; and her parents.

Graveside Services for Barbara were held at Riverside Cemetery.
