Benjamin (Ben) Edward Eugene Strobel was born January 21, 1917 and passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 9, 2015. Ben was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio and even though he lived most of his life in Northeast Ohio, by far his favorite place to spend time and find peace was at his family farm in Glenmont, Ohio where he lived as a boy. He loved the country and all that went with it. Even well into his 90's, Ben would walk a mile to plant a tree in just the right place. He enjoyed nature and was an expert in identifying birds, trees and flowers, especially wildflowers! He even sang special songs about his favorite flowers. Ben was the first in his family to attend college and not only did he graduate, he also went to law school, both while working 3 jobs. He was very proud when he only had to work 2 jobs because he got a raise and was making 15 cents an hour! He proudly and honorably served his country overseas as an enlisted member of the Army Air Corp during World War II. Ben worked an amazing 49 years for Keyes- Treuhaft Company as a real estate lawyer and property manager. Ben was a Mason for 61 years, joining in 1954. Ben was preceded in death by his wife Lillian (nee Marshall) and a grandson Elias Marks. He leaves behind his children DuPre Marks (husband Theodore), Charles and Marsha; a sister, Martha Barnes of Ashland, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and many friends. An interment service will be held on January 22 at 12:30pm at The Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10275 Rawiga Rd, Rittman, Ohio 44270 followed immediately by a gathering of friends and family to celebrate his life at The Old School House, 9540 Benner Road, Rittman, OH AND on January 24 there will be Calling Hours from 2-3:30pm followed by a Memorial Service and Masonic Service at The Shaker Family Center 19824 Sussex Rd Shaker Heights, OH 44122. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in the name of Benjamin E.E.
