Bernard W. “Bernie” Herman, age 86, passed away on August 1, 2026. He was born on March 11, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Bernie had a lifelong love for race cars. He restored a 1967 Camaro with his son Mike and a 1972 Chevelle with his grandson Timmy. He spent countless hours drag racing, tuning, and proudly showing off his cars at the Friday night car show in Painesville. He was referred to as the "Legend" by the local race community. Bernie also loved to dance, and he was often one of the first people out on the floor at any party or wedding. When he and Jan were dating, he took her dancing all the time—and he won a contest for doing the Twist.

Above all, Bernie loved his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Jan; his daughter Denise (Michael); his son Michael (Christy); his grandchildren Timmy (Kelley), Brittany (Michael), Madalynn, Brianna, and Michael; and his great‑grandchildren Timmy, Haylee, and Mia. He was preceded in death by his father Foster Herman; mother, Ann (nee Fasko) Herman; and sister Martha (nee Herman) Rossi.

His legacy lives on in the stories, laughter, and traditions he shared with each of them. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Friends and family will be received 4:00-7:00 P.M. Monday August 10, 2026, at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Homes, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd, Concord, OH 44077, OH
