Betty Jane
(Blumena) Marshall
January 4, 1928 – October 18, 2023
Betty Jane Marshall (nee Blumena) passed away on Wednesday, October 18th 2023. Betty was born on January 4th, 1928 to a large loving Irish family on the West side of Cleveland where she attended St. Stephen's Church parish school and West High school. She took great pride in her family and her home in Painesville, Ohio where she raised three daughters alongside her loving husband Jim. Betty was an active member of her community here in Lake County. She was a participant in Mrs. Mentor Headlands in 1956, a girl scout leader, President of the Junior Auxiliary of American Legion Post 336, and a member of Painesville Women's Chorus for nearly 40 years. Betty had a quick sense of humor, a commanding presence, and an enormous amount of strength and fight to the very end. Nothing was more important to her than family and her beloved Cleveland Indians. Before passing, she wanted people to know, "I hope the people that I met in life enjoyed me as much as I enjoyed them!"
Betty is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Tayse (Michael), Kathryn Capaldi (James), and Shari Uterhark (Gary); her granddaughters Amanda Vida (Grant) and Emily Uterhark; her great-grandson Andrew Vida; her sisters-in-law Carol Blumena and Therease Clark Blumena; 10 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband James V. Marshall; her parents Bernard J. and Anna V. Blumena (nee McNeeley); her brothers Thomas Blumena, Charles McNeeley, and James Blumena; sisters Rose Golden, Phyllis Rhodes, and Catherine Kelley. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Western Reserve and nurses and aides of Care Core Mentor. In lieu of flowers please send donations to: St. Stephen's Church and Hospice of the Western Reserve.
