Carol Rose
(Lasicky) Austin
April 8, 1936 – October 25, 2022
Carol Rose Austin, 86, of Painesville Twp., passed away October 25, 2022. She was born April 8, 1936, in the family house to the late Frank and Rose Lasicky. Carol met and married the love of her life Chuck Austin in 1955, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage before his passing in March 2022.
Carol grew up in Collinwood and attended St. Mary Church on Holmes Avenue. Carol's brother Joe Lasicky wrote a Polka for his sister named the "Carol Rose Polka". Carol graduated from Collinwood High School and was active in school clubs and groups. Chuck convinced Carol to apply for the Post Office Department in the late 1960's. Carol was eventually hired and spent 30 years as a Letter Carrier at the Mentor Post Office, retiring together with Chuck in 2000. They rode to work together, had lunch together, and rode home together for the majority of those 30 years. She was a proud member of Branch 4196, National Association of Letter Carriers for 52 years. Carol and Chuck were lifelong Mickey Mouse fans and were constant visitors to Walt Disney World. She enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the United States. Carol was a member of St. Bede the Venerable Church in Mentor before transferring to St Mary's of the Assumption Parish in Mentor. Carol also enjoyed Bingo and bus trips to Seneca Allegany Casino.
Survivors include her daughter Carol Austin, sons, Charles (Marie) Austin, Craig (Chris) Austin, and Cary (Angie) Austin; grandchildren, Matthew and Lisa Adams, Jeremy Austin, Jessica (James) Reed, Regina Patterson, Douglas (Amanda) Patterson, and Ryan Patterson, Cory (Ashley) Austin, Casey Austin, Brandon Austin, Brianna Austin, Brody Austin; great grandchildren, Cody (Shania), Darius, Leyland, Jordyn, Josie, Joseph, Shamus, and Luna. Her sisters in law, Joan Novak and Beverly Cowgill and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Austin, brother, Joseph (Fay) Lasicky, brothers in law, John Novak and Wayne Cowgill.
Friends will be received 5:00-7:00 PM., Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 2nd at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, Ohio. Please meet at the church.
