Obituary

Cecil E. Minich, Jr., age 63, passed away on September 2, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones in Mentor, Ohio. He was born on January 17, 1963, in Akron, Ohio, to Cecil E. Minich, Sr. and Priscilla (Rexroad) Minich.

Cecil was a machinist by trade for many years and retired from Ferrotherm Corp. in Garfield Heights. He was an incredibly handy man who could fix just about anything, but even more than that, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to the friends and family he loved.

He spent many years golfing in the Men’s League at Painesville Country Club, a pastime he truly enjoyed. He also loved going to the casinos and never passed up the chance to try his luck. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a love he shared with his son, Jacob. The two of them enjoyed watching the games together and cheering on their team through every season. He also had a special love for his dogs, who brought him so much happiness and companionship throughout the years.

Most of all, he was incredibly proud of his children and all they had accomplished, and he took great joy in watching them grow. Cecil treasured time spent with his family and friends, whether it was gathering together for special occasions, going on vacations, or simply visiting and enjoying each other’s company. Being surrounded by the people and pets he loved brought him some of his greatest joy.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Karen (Kodric) Minich, with whom he recently celebrated 35 years of a loving and happy marriage; his father, Cecil E. Minich, Sr.; his son, Jacob Minich; his daughters, Hannah Minich, Jacquelyn Minich, and Sarah (Jason) Bonner; his sister, Patti (William) Pfeifer; his brother, James (Karen) Minich; and his grandchildren, Braylin and Colton Bonner. He also leaves behind beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who meant so much to him and were an important part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Priscilla Minich.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, September 20, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a prayer service immediately following at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. A meal will follow the prayer service, with additional details regarding the location provided at the funeral home.
