Obituary

Charles Richard Snider, age 98, passed away January 23, 2025, in Middlefield, Ohio.   He was born September 27, 1926, in Logan, Ohio to Raymond Snider and Edna (Wallace) Snider.

Charles was a Paratrooper in the United States Army.  He worked for Cleveland Crane for many years, operated 2 gas stations and then later retired.  He was a leader of the Painesville Cavaliers and started the Cavalettes for girls who went on to win multiple state and national championships. Charley was also a member of the Masons. Charles won the distinguished service award from the city of Painesville. He was also an avid hunter, a mechanic, and enjoyed riding motorcycles in his free time.

Charles is survived by his son, Steve (Sheila) Snider; daughter, Jane (Rick) Button; grandchildren, Brian, Bridget, Rachel, Sarah, Justin, Hannah, Carissa and Vanessa; twelve great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Norma Jean) Snider.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Schafer) Snider; daughter, Barbara (Tony) Polewchak; and grandson, John.

Friends will be received, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will be at Perry Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 600 River Avenue Ste 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
