David W. Rittenhouse, age 79, of Painesville Township, OH, passed away at UH Medical Center Cleveland on November 5, 2022, after complications from a fall.

He was born May 19, 1943, to Robert and Phyllis (Bartlett) Rittenhouse in Perry, Ohio.

David was very active in the community. He served on the boards for The Garden Club of Cleveland, Lake County History Center, Western Reserve Counseling Service, Lakeland Community College, and Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity.  He also loved being a high school football referee. Every summer, Dave looked forward to making new flavors for the annual ice cream social and inviting everyone try his creations and celebrate the friendships.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher and Kenneth Rittenhouse; sisters, Judy and Robin; daughter-in-law, Laura (Ed) Rectenwald; sons-in-law, John (Meghan) and Paul (Carolyn) Sabitsch; and grandchildren Mitchell and Olivia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life, Francis (Caniglia).

Calling hours will be held at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave, Painesville OH 44077, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
