Mass of Christian Burial for Donald King of Perry will be Friday at 11:00 am at St. Cyprian Catholic Church 4223 Middle Ridge Rd. Perry Rev. George Kusy will officiate. Family and friends will be received from 4-8 Thursday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery. He passed away on March 9, 2015 at his home with his family surrounding him. He was born in 1929 in Perry, Ohio where he lived and graduated in 1948. Over the years he worked at Industrial Rayon, Morton Salt, and Uniroyal. Don started his own company of painting, repair and remodeling. He was also the zoning inspector for Perry Township. He was the tri-county Golden Gloves heavyweight champion in 1950-1951. During the Korean War, he served with the 7th Infantry Division, 31st Infantry Regiment as Sgt. First Class and as platoon leader. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, order of the Bayonet Defense Medal, Korean War Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, the United Nation Medal, and the Republic of Korea Medal. Don was a life member of the VFW 7754, Amvets 1071, the 31st Infantry Association, The Korean War Veterans Association, the American Legion 697, the 7th Infantry Division Association, the Perry Historical Society, and the Senior Citizens Association. Don was a member of St. Cyprian's Church. Don loved being with his family and grandchildren, and teasing them. He liked working in his yard, greenhouse, and garden. He was the founder of the morning coffee club with his dear friends Jack Platko, Dave Bruns, and Don Romano. He is survived by his wife Rita (Panzarella) King, children Donna (Tom) Anderson of Perry, David (Denise) King of Perry, Ray (Priscilla) King of Cumming, Georgia, Michael (Tina) King of Perry, and Donald King of Kent, Grandchildren Jason (Lauren) Babic, Jessica Babic, Jeremy King, Christina (Curt) Svgerko, Kayla King, Jillian King, Jordan King, and Jenna King. Great Grandchildren, Baily, Justin, Mason, Sarah, Karley, Kelsey, Gavin, Mia, Gianna and Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond C. & Gladys (Butler) King and an uncle Norman" Nonnie" King Contributions may be made to the Perry Center Food Bank PO Box 446 Perry OH 44081
