Funeral services for Doris M. Rakovan, age 92, will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Avenue Painesville, OH 44077. Friends will be received from 12:00 noon until services at 2:00 pm. A Painesville, OH resident since 1960, Doris was born on February 24, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away on January 16, 2016 at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Twp.

Doris worked as a long-distance operator for the Bell Telephone System for 10 years. She was a switchboard operator at the former Lake County Memorial Hospital and an employee in the medical records department at Lake East Hospital in Painesville. She also worked as a receptionist at Allied Chemical. Doris was a devoted volunteer at Lake East Hospital for 21 years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, working jigsaw puzzles, traveling, and blue grass music. Doris attended the Painesville United Methodist Church since 2004.

She was a lifetime member of the Beta Sigma Phi-Xi Lambda Sigma Chapter, a member of the Red Hats Girls (The Madhatters), Willoughby American Legion Post 214, Mentor Senior Citizens Center, and the Fairport Harbor Senior Center.

She is survived by, Sons, Mark E. (Karen) Dean and Eric E. Dean Grandchildren, Jessica Dean and Lindsay Dean Sister-in-Law, Nancy Lasell, brother-in-Law Richard Rosemary) Rakovan Niece, Roseann Rakovan many nieces and nephews in Illinois and Iowa A very special Pen Pal for 25 years, Diana Dunkle of Lancaster, OH.
