Dorothy Jane
(Gillespie) Sholtis
March 2, 1943 – October 14, 2021
Dorothy Jane Sholtis, age 78, passed away October 14, 2021, at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland. She was born March 2, 1943, in Painesville to Frank A. and Jean A. (Phillips) Gillespie.
Dorothy worked for Notre Dame Education Center in Chardon as the Main Entrée Cook for over 11 years. She also worked for the Village of Rock Creek as the cemetery sexton for 11 years. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and volunteered at the food bank for St. Anthony's and St. Patrick's Churches. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and she also liked to buy and refinish old furniture. Her true passion was gardening. She loved growing flowers and vegetables. Her husband always left a special place for her garden at every home they owned.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Jennifer D. Cunningham, Rebecca J. (Patrick) Etringer, Timothy J. Sholtis, David P. (Jeanette) Sholtis, brother, Frank Gillespie; sister, Stella Kangas; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis John Sholtis in 2015; son, Trevor S. Sholtis in 2016; sister, Barbara J. Worthmann, and her parents.
A Memorial Mass for Dorothy will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 521 Plum Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to: Hospice of the Western Reserve, P. O. Box 72101 Cleveland, Ohio 44192.
