Obituary

David Frank Cantrick, age 94, went home to be with the lord on July 25, 2026, at his home in Painesville, Ohio. He passed away from natural causes.

He was born in Painesville, Ohio, December 21, 1931, to Harry and Laura (Brick) Cantrick. He was a lifelong resident of Painesville, Ohio. He graduated from Harvey High School in 1948. Shortly afterward, he was drafted in the U.S. Army, where he served for 4 years. In 1954, he married his sweetheart, Bessie Cummings. They celebrated 65 years of marriage until her passing in 2019. They built their family home in Painesville, where they raised 4 children. He worked for many years in Clevland as an accounting supervisor at Finast Supermarkets. He retired in 1996. After retirement, he and Bessie enjoyed visiting their 2 daughters in southwest Florida, attended Drum and Bugle Corps performances, and enjoyed watching Trinity Church softball games. Dave was actively involved at Calvary Baptist Church, and Willo-Hill Baptist Church until his health began to decline, and he couldn't continue his ministries. He served as worship leader at Calvary Baptist for more than 40 years, as well as being a trustee and Sunday School teacher. He loved all sports. He actively played and coached softball, and enjoyed basketball, golf, and bowling for most of his life.

Dave is survived by his daughters Debbie {Cantrick) Holmes, Barb Cantrick, Pat Cantrick, Barbetta Hutchinson, and son David (Karen) Cantrick; granddaughters, Jessica (Arie Solomon) Holmes, and Shelby Cantrick; grandsons, Eric Holmes, Cameron (Jaime) Holmes, and Connor Cantrick; great grandchildren, Levi Solomon, Theo Solomon, Camilla Holmes, Jack Holmes, Abigail Holmes, Jesse Holmes, and Vincenzo Theil. He was preceded in death by his son in law, Ron Holmes (March 2025). He was also preceded in death by his parents Frank and Laura Cantrick, sisters, Jean Leonard, and Betty Molyneux, and brother, Jon Cantrick.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all. He had a strong, unwavering faith in the Lord, which sustained and comforted him throughout life's journey. He knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that a beautiful, new life would be awaiting him in heaven. We take great comfort in the knowledge that the frailties of this life are passed, and a perfect life with his Lord and loved ones, has just begun.

Dave's family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Elara Caring Hospice for the care he received. God bless you for the work you do for others.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 10am to 11am on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11am. interment will be at Concord Cemetery, in Concord, Ohio.
