Elizabeth A.
(Galovich) Lawrence
March 3, 1933 – July 13, 2022
Elizabeth A. Lawrence (née Galovich), age 89, passed away July 13, 2022, at her residence in Painesville Township. She was born March 3, 1933, in Hastings, PA.
The daughter and granddaughter of Slovak immigrants, she kept her family's traditions and deep Catholic faith close to her heart throughout her life. She moved to Lake County with her husband and children in 1969 and was one of the earliest members of St. Gabriel's parish in Concord Township. She was an active member of the Mission Circle, Rosary group and Daily Sacristy prayers, as well as offering her gardening talents in the parish outdoor shrine for many years.
She took great joy in caring for others and worked as a caregiver for both children and seniors. She was often referred to as "Grandma Betty" by the kids she looked after and stayed in touch with their families long after her services were no longer needed. Later she worked as an elder care companion, where her compassionate and caring nature was always appreciated.
She lived in her home with her husband for over 50 years, watching her children and others in the neighborhood grow up and start their own lives and families. She was known for her thoughtfulness, always remembering to send cards and small gifts to family and friends, no matter how far the distance or the amount of time that lapsed between visits; just to let them know that she was thinking of them. She was known by many titles throughout her lifetime, and she cherished them all. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, Aunt Betty, and friend. She will be remembered and missed greatly by all whose lives she touched by her presence.
She is preceded in death by her husband John A. Lawrence, parents Paul and Suzanna (Long) Galovich, brothers, John, Joseph, and Andrew Drahnak, as well as brothers, David, Francis, and Edward Galovich, sister, Margret Reber and son-in-law, Karl Rotstan.
She leaves behind her son Patrick, daughter-in-law, Regala and granddaughter, Ruby of Alamogordo, NM., daughter Anna-Marie of Brooklyn, NY.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Township, Ohio.
