Fred DeFranco age 98 a lifelong resident of Lake County went home to be with the Jesus in Paradise on November 2, 2015 Fred was born July 24, 1917. He attended St. Mary Catholic elementary school in Painesville, Ohio.
He was Class president when he graduated from Thomas W. Harvey High School in 1935
He served 4 years in the U.S Army during World War II with the 562nd Signal Air Warning Battalion as a radio repairman, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Fred also earned the nickname "DOC" among his army buddies because he would pass around a jar of "Vicks" to the guys who got the sniffles.
Fred was owner of Fred DeFranco Sewer and Drain Cleaning. He was a life member of K of C Council 947. He was an avid golfer. Fred enjoyed music, especially Jazz, playing the harmonica and guitar with several musical groups.
He is survived by his niece Nancy Davis, and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Minnie (Frate) DeFranco; brother Joe; sisters Elizabeth Davis, Lucille Lang, and Rita Nagy and a niece Loretta Davis.
He is interred in Riverside Cemetery. In Keeping with Fred's wishes, no funeral or memorial services will be held. Contributions in Fred's memory may be made in care of Nancy Davis PO Box 2024, Painesville, Ohio 44077
