Obituary

Gail "Sue" Hanrick Pomeroy, age 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 13, 2022, at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland. She was born October 1, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts to Dennis and Alice (Appleby) Hanrick.

A Celebration of Sue's Life will be held on Friday, January 6, from noon to 4pm at American Legion Post No. 336, 60 Chester St, Painesville, OH 44077. The family encourages everyone to observe Red Shirt Friday in Sue's memory. She will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.

Sue loved children and enjoyed volunteering as a librarian and working as a crossing guard and lunch lady at Madison Avenue Elementary (now Riverview) in Painesville Township. As her children grew up, Sue served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Her children are proud that she received her bachelor's degree from Lake Erie College when they were teenagers. Sue grew up in a U.S. Army family, so she was gratified to work as a Claims Representative with the Veterans Administration until retirement.

She enjoyed spending time with friends and family near and far, baking cookies, sipping a hot cup of tea, sewing quilts, reading romance novels, and watching crime shows. Being a proud grandmother was one of Sue Pomeroy's greatest joys.

She is survived by the one plant she was ever able to keep alive; her two children, Mikel Pomeroy (Javier) and Melissa Sue Graham (Hugh); and her two grandchildren, Rowan Graham (Henrietta) and Elliot Logan Graham. The oldest of a large family, Sue is also survived by siblings Dennis "Butch" Hanrick (Terry), Brenda Foos, Karen Mintz (Terry), Gregory Hanrick, Ellen Radachovsky, Kathleen Bowers (Brian), Maureen Weiland (Rob), Jennifer Fritz (Eric), and Jeanine Yeomans (Bruce), as well as many, many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry L. Pomeroy, her parents, and siblings Mary Ann, Mary Jo, and Margaret "Peggy."
