Gail J.
Newsome
April 27, 1955 – January 6, 2016
Gayle Jean Newsome, 60, of Painesville, passed on Wednesday January 6, 2016 at the David Simpson Hospice House, only 2 months after being diagnosed with cancer. She was born on April 27, 1955 in Painesville, Ohio, daughter of Raymond and Bettie Glenn. Gayle graduated from Riverside High School in Painesville as well as the Cosmetology program at Auburn Career Center, class of 1973. She also received a diploma in Practical Nursing at Willoughby- Eastlake School of Nursing in 1995, and worked at various assisted living and nursing homes over the years. In all areas of her life, aside from being a nurse, Gayle was a caregiver. She was a nurturing, concerned, and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. Gayle intrinsically felt it was her duty to step up and truly be there for her loved ones, especially in their darkest hours where just a little bit of light can go a long way. It was always in her caring and doing for others that she found the most contentment, joy, and purpose in her own life. Gayle appreciated great music, was a total movie and TV buff, and a lover of language and words- as she would whoop you at Scrabble and spend hours on her crossword puzzles. She is survived by her two children, Kelly Stropkey, and Lyndsey (Patrick) Kohn; Stepson Greg (Dawn) Newsome; five grandchildren, Tommy, Kenny, and Cameron Wright, and Kaitlyn and Jaidyn Newsome, sister Anita Glenn, and brother Michael Glenn. She was preceded in death by her father Raymond Glenn Sr., sister Dayle (Glenn) Robinson, mother Bettie (Rich) Glenn, brother Raymond Glenn Jr., and her husband Gregory L. Newsome. Services will be held Saturday January 16, 2016 at the Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home located at 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville, with Jerry Kalb officiating. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4pm, followed immediately by the memorial service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Gayle Newsome Memorial Fund, for the continued care and support of her grandchildren, whom she had adopted.
