Funeral services for George E. Smith, age 93, will be 11:00am Wednesday at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Avenue Painesville where friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday. A lifetime resident of Painesville for over 40 years, George was born on July 20, 1920 in Painesville. He passed away on June 5, 2014 at the Louis B. Stokes Veterans Hospital at Wade Park in Cleveland. George served in the US Army in the Central Pacific Theatre during World War II. He retired as an electrician for the former Diamond-Shamrock Corp. in Painesville. Mr. Smith was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Painesville Life Member of V.F.W. Post 7754 in Fairport Harbor Hobbies, playing bingo and gardening Survived by, Son, Norman (Joyce) Smith of Madison Sister-in-law, Rose (Brent) Uher of Perry Grandchildren, Cheryl L. (Scott) Kailburn of Painesville Sherri (Vaughn) Smith of Painesville Georgine Saldana of Thompson Misty (Brian) O'Leary of Painesville Twp. Great Grandchildren, Jose, Tony, Christine, Brittany, Riley, and Ryan Nieces and Nephews, Susan, Donna, Brent II, Carol Wisen, David Wallace, and Jim Wallace Preceded in death by, Wife, Mary J. (Bartello) Smith on Feb. 3, 2013 Son, George Smith Parents, George E. and Rose M. (Hedley) Smith Sister, Margaret Kaiser Nephew, Michael Wallace Sisters-in-laws, Ann Pitcher and Phyllis Wallace Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery
