Funeral Services for Gerald "Jerry" F. Cline, age 78, will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday February 3rd, 2017 at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Pastor Ron Priest of Concord Alliance Church will officiate. Family and friends may call Friday 4:00 -7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in North Kingsville.
Born November 7, 1938 in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada, he passed away peacefully with his family at his side on January 28, 2017.
Gerald was a police officer in East Cleveland, Washington DC and for the City of Painesville for 10 years. He also worked in industrial security for the Towmotor-Caterpillar Plant for 20 years and then retired from a security position at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant.
Gerald was a U. S. Army veteran, a member of American Legion Post # 336, the Hungarian Culture Club in Fairport, FOPA lodge 25, the Chardon Library Book Club and he enjoyed working out at the YMCA. He was also an avid Cleveland sports enthusiast. He loved his family and put others before himself. He loved to laugh and crack jokes with everyone he met. Most importantly, he was a believer in Christ Jesus and now rests in heaven with God.
He is survived by his wife, Judith A. (Maenpaa) Cline whom he married June 1, 1964; sons, Shawn J. Cline of Austinburg, and Mark F. (Rebecca) Cline of Twinsburg; daughter, Kelly A. Cline-Day of Painesville; daughter-in-law Melissa Cline of Madison; grandchildren, Kayleigh Pengov, Taylor Cline and Mikayla Cline; great grandchildren, Kamdyn, Kasen, and Karsynn; brother, William "Bill" (Betty) Cline of Conneaut and Aunt, June Clark of St. Catherines, Ontario; brother-in-law, Tom (Sue) Maenpaa, sister-in-law, Pam Maenpaa; sister -in-law, Barb Barnum; many nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Beatrice A. (Young) Cline; son-in-law, Jack Day; brother-in-law, Ed Maenpaa; Aunt, Velma Young and his pride and joy Frankie the puggle.
Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to the Lake County YMCA Central Branch 933 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Oh 44077.
