Mass of Christian burial for Gertrud (nee Troltsch) Holzhaeusser, of Concord Township, will be Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd, Concord Township, OH 44060. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2016 at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville, OH 44077. Private burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. Gertrud was the daughter of Paul and Christine (nee Niederle) Troltsch, born on August 8, 1937 in Greifendorf, Germany and passed away January 20, 2016 at her home. She was a faithful Catholic and member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, recently serving the Prayer Shawl Ministry and the Bereavement Ministry. She immigrated with her husband at age 20, and was proud to earn American citizenship and learn English. Gertrud worked hard and strived to be the best she could be. She had many self-taught talents and gladly shared them with others - knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing, cooking and baking – especially her divine European style pastries. She loved flowers and created beautiful gardens each spring. She enjoyed golfing and tennis. She was passionate about reading and displayed books in every room. Gertrud was kind, generous, and loyal to her family and friends. She will be remembered with love and so dearly missed. Survivors include her four daughters – Doris Sherwood, Rita (Jeff) Miller, Tina (Jim) Mann, and Janet Holzhaeusser; five grandchildren – Kara Sherwood, Scott Sherwood, Andrea Mann, Tyler Mann and Bailey Mann; sister, Maria Munch and sister-in-law, Doris Troltsch and many other extended family members in Germany and Switzerland. Gertrud was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Heinz A. Holzhaeusser in 2011, her parents, brother Gottfried Troltsch, and brother-in-law Helmut Munch. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Gabriel Food Bank or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
