May 28, 1946 – February 1, 2024
Gloria G. Kolovich, age 77, passed away February 1, 2024, at U. H. Geauga Medical Center in Chardon. She was born May 28, 1946, in Cleveland to Louis Geitz and Susan (Kovach) Geitz.
Gloria was a dedicated high school chemistry and physics teacher at Harvey, Kirtland, Berkshire, and Warrensville High Schools over her forty-year career. Her wholehearted commitment to her students and the Harvey community was evident through her service as a cheerleading advisor, prom planner, weekly Bingo volunteer, fundraiser extraordinaire, and Boosters treasurer. Her years of volunteer efforts with AFS helped raise funds to support many Painesville-area students participating in study-abroad programs. She was honored to be a recipient of the Harvey High School Hall of Fame Award. After retirement, Gloria continued to serve her community through St. Mary Church in Painesville, and she, with her husband, was active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society. As a mother of five children, she could be seen on the sidelines, audience, or concession stands for Riverside, St. Joseph Villa Angela, and Painesville Little League baseball, softball, basketball, track, tennis, dance team, band, and theater events.
Gloria is survived by her husband, John Kolovich; children Lisa Kolovich (Claudio Meira), Laura Paynter, Dr. Gregory (Martina) Kolovich, Kerri (Steve) Beal, Brian (Irene) Kolovich; sister, Arlene Gundzik; brother, Donald Geitz; grandchildren, Annelise Meira, Jacob Paynter, Lila Paynter, Emily Paynter, Quinn Kolovich, Tatum Kolovich, Coen Kolovich, Tegan Kolovich, Madelyn Beal, Ryan Beal, Brady Kolovich, and Aiden Kolovich; and many nieces and nephews.
