Gloria Dean Smith, age 79 of Perry, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 19, 2026, at Danbury of Mentor Assisted Living after bravely fighting a battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born November 8, 1946, in Pinegrove, West Virginia to Bruce McKinney and Myrtle (Thomas) McKinney.

Gloria retired from Avery Dennison in Painesville where she worked as an inventory specialist in the Specialty Tape Division. She prided herself on never losing a roll of tape in their warehouse in the 26 years she was there.

She was an active member of her church at Christian Life Church in Mentor where she volunteered in the children’s church, which gave her great joy. Her greatest pastime was spending time with her family. She loved her family and grandchildren with all of her heart and poured into them all of her love for Jesus. She was always present for any and all activities that her children and grandchildren were a part of.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, James L Smith; daughters, Cherie (Jose) Ruiz of Aurora and April (Jamie) Hunziker of Painesville; 3 grandchildren (Joe, Ava, AJ) and 1 great grandchild (Carter); and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Bruce and Myrtle (Thomas) McKinney and siblings Thomas McKinney, Alice Shreeve and Ralph McKinney.

Friends will be received 3:00 – 5:00 PM, Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Perry Cemetery.
