September 30, 1925 – June 30, 2015
Funeral services for James A. Armstrong, age 89, will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville where friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday.
Mr. Armstrong, a Painesville resident and formerly of Grand River was born on September 30, 1925 in
Painesville. He passed away on June 30, 2015 at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Twp.
Jim graduated from Harvey High School in 1948. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Wiley during World War II. His unit received a Presidential Citation for Valor during the battle of Okinawa in the Pacific Theatre
James served as a former police chief for Grand River. He had worked for the former Diamond-Shamrock Corp. and retired as a Maintenance Co-ordinator for Lake Metro Parks.
He was a member of V.F.W. Post 7754 in Fairport Harbor and enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening, and was an avid Cleveland sports fan; but he loved the times he spent with his grandchildren most of all.
