James Benno Luther, age 77, died peacefully at his home on March 13, 2015. Mr. Luther, a long-time Mentor resident was born on November 17, 1937 in Spangler, PA.

Mr. Luther was a veteran of the United States Army, a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne during the Cold War.

James had worked for Hillside Dairy, Tow Motor, Ohio Moulding, and retired from SAS Rubber Co.

He was a member of Mentor Headlands Amvets, Hungarian Culture Club, Slovenian Club, American Legion, and Fairport Harbor V.F.W.

Mr. Luther enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, golfing, bocce ball, and he played on a champion football team at John Carroll High School in PA. James was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and prankster, James is survived by Wife, Deanna (Lawrence) Luther, whom he married on January 20, 1958 Children, Tamara (John) Wysocki of Madison Cynthia Ranallo (Rusty) of Eastlake Christine Hurayt of Oregon James (Brenda) Luther of Mentor Lisa (Robert) Ferritto of Harpersfield Richard (Julia) Luther of Painesville Grandchildren: Jessica, Matthew, Ashley, Bryan, Jacob, James, Sarah, and Andrew Great Grandchildren: Kaden, Max, Izzy, Deion, and Slade Brothers: Darl, Duane, Paul, and Pat Sisters: JoAnne, Donita, Sylvia, Ruth and Judy Preceded in death by: Parents: Urban and Helen (Miller) Luther Brothers: Bill and Ronny Sister: Ginger Grandson: Tommy

Friends will be received on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Services will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home.
