Funeral services for Janet Bates, 87, will be Sunday at 3:00 PM ,  at the Spear-Mulqueeny Home 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio.   Family and friends may call Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Janet was born January 3, 1931 in Painesville and passed away January 10, 2018 at Maple View Country Villa in Chardon.

Janet was a lifetime Painesville resident, and a member of St. Mary Church.  She enjoyed flowers and gardening.

She is survived by; children, Dianne Trexler, Sharon (Don) Weier, Ronald (Doreen) Bates, Vivian Brinker, and Benjamin (Kris) Bates; grandchildren, Bryan, Lisa, Jason, Amy, Matthew and Michael; eight great grandchildren; and sister, Ruth (Gerald) Pohto. She also leaves many nieces and nephews

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Bennie J. Bates, parents Gilbert and Marion (Lawlor) Shelby; sisters, Dorothy Otto, Rosella (Daniel) Larko; brothers, Thomas Shelby, Gilbert Shelby; granddaughter, Amanda Nighman.
