Jerry "Jay" L. Sharp, Jr., age 60, passed away December 7th, around 7am, at his residence surrounded by loved ones. Jay died roughly a month after being diagnosed with a rare bile duct Klatskin tumor.

He was born June 25, 1961, in Cleveland to Jerry, Sr., and Doris (Stewart) Sharp. Jay spent 34 years serving as a policeman for the City of Painesville. Before that he served as a firefighter and EMT for the Township of Painesville from 1980 – 1990.

Jay dedicated 30+ years coaching Lake County youth football, the Painesville Rams and Browns, Fairport High and Middle School, and Painesville Harvey High and Middle School. He enjoyed years of traveling, photography, and spending time with his family including his chickens.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Rose (Rogan) Sharp; children, Ed Sharp (Crystal), Alisha Sharp (Nick Burnett), Eric Sharp (Raven), Rachel Kajfez (Matt), Lindsey Louis (Josh Chambers); sister, Julie McNamara (Mike); grandchildren, Preston, Elliott, Krystian, Kaleb, Faith, Hayden, Daniel, Hunter, Reagan, Andrew, Joey. He was preceded in death by his mother (Doris Myers), brother (Bruce Myers), and nephew (Adam Singleton).

Friends will be welcomed from 4pm – 8pm, Monday, December 13, 2021, and 10am – 11am, Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Painesville Baptist Church, 140 Park Road, Painesville Township, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow Tuesday's calling hours. Burial will be at Mentor Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rose Sharp who will start a scholarship for youth football players in memory of Jay (Sharp Heart Award) and/or other community based projects in Jay's honor.
