Obituary

Jo Anna (Sivak) Sweeney, age 81, passed away November 16, 2020 in Madison, Ohio.  She was born April 30, 1939 in Painesville to Joseph Sivak and Eunice (Green) Polgar.

Jo Anna was a life-long resident of Lake County.  She was a graduate of Fairport Harding High School and had a genuine love of the Fairport Harbor community.  Jo Anna was a manager with Giant Eagle for many years before retiring in 2000.  She was an avid reader, a gardener and Cleveland sports fan.  She was a devoted member and volunteer of the Fairport Harbor Senior Center in her retirement years, spending her time in classes, teaching exercise classes, and cooking for the community.  Jo Anna was recognized as Senior Citizen of the Year in 2014.  She loved music and dancing and Boy Oh Boy, could she bake!  She was a loving matriarch of a full family, always holding family and chosen family in her heart.  Jo Anna's love of family, friends and community will live on through generations.

Jo Anna is survived by her daughters, Denice (Pat) McGee, Kelly (John) Kekelis, Roberta (Brian) Buchheit, Tammy (Belen) Sweeney and Joelle (Rona) Guymon; sisters, Kathy (Norm) Rivers and Teena Caplinger; grandchildren, Chris (Maritza) McGee, Matt McGee, Chrissy (Jeremy) Ham, Dan (Ashley) McGee, Shawn McGee, Cassi (Curtis) Kekelis, Andrew (Cheyenne) Kekelis, Charles (Sidney) Wilson, Jessica Wilson, Brady Buchheit and Dillon Buchheit; great grandchildren, Ruth, Jonathon, Katlyn, Madelyn, Lennon, Wesley, Wyatt, Rylan, Alexandria, Preston, Axel, Bryce, Emmie and Elaina; great-great grandson, Anthony; many nieces and nephews and if that wasn't ENOUGH, a couple of bonus kids, Pam Locotosh and Sue Zalar. PHEW!!!

She was preceded in death by her sister, Toni (Dave) Rusnak, grandson, Kevin McGee; cousin and BFF, Pat Pietala.

A Remembrance Celebration of Life will be announced at a future date due to current restrictions.
