(Rushlow) Palinkas
November 17, 1929 – February 6, 2024
Joan L. Palinkas, age 94, passed away February 6, 2024, at her residence in Painesville Township. She was born November 17, 1929, in Wyandotte, Michigan to James A. and Irene (Hooks) Rushlow.
Joan worked for Fazio's (Rini Rego's) Grocery Store in the deli department for many years. She also worked for IRC Fibers in the spinning room. She was a member of the American Slovenian Club in Fairport Harbor and the Painesville Eagles Club. Joan enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She also loved spending time with her family and baking her secret recipe cookies.
Joan is survived by her grandchildren, David Hooper, Patrick Ruth, Theresa Palinkas, Steven Ruth, Charles Palinkas, Kimberly (Chad) Ness), Jennifer (John) Henry, Brian (Tracie) Palinkas, Gene Palinkas III, April Borelli, Andrea Hooper, Donald Palinkas, Ashley (John) Hixenbough, Michael Voiles, Sara Palinkas and Mathew Palinkas; 26 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Bonita Palinkas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Palinkas in 2001; children, Gene (Josephine) Palinkas Jr., Charles Palinkas, Richard Palinkas, Susan (Jim) Voiles, Cynthia (James) Duplessis; granddaughter, Crystal Carter; brother, James W. Rushlow; sister, Jean Thompson; and her parents.
Family and friends will be received 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Monday, February 12, 2024, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, February 13th at the funeral home.
