John "Jack"
A. Lawrence
August 1, 1936 – May 14, 2022
John A. Lawrence, age 85, passed away May 14, 2022, at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland. He was born August 1, 1936, in Bakerton-Elmora, Pennsylvania to Richard and Cecelia (Mitchell) Lawrence.
Jack served in the United States Air Force, and he worked for Towmotor/Caterpillar for many years. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
John or Jack/Peck, as he was known to his friends, was truly a "Jack of all trades". He was a talented carpenter and "fixer upper". He enjoyed creating his annual vegetable garden and tending to his raspberry patch. He liked to fish in his favorite spots that no one else knew of, and hunt, just to spend some time in nature with his friends.
Jack was an avid baseball fan, who played the game throughout his youth. He was a kind and thoughtful man, who often gave away the fruits of his labor in the form of birdhouses, vegetables, and fish. He was loved throughout his neighborhood as a man who would fix your bike or chat with all the local kids, while tinkering in his garage. Jack will be missed by many but will always be remembered for his soft-spoken voice and good-natured ways.
Jack is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Galovich) Lawrence; son, Patrick Lawrence; daughter-in-law, Regala; daughter, Anna-Marie S. Lawrence; granddaughter, Ruby Lawrence; sisters, Deana and Lillian; and brothers, Bob and Wayne, as well as many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Cecelia; sisters, June, Sara Jane, Betty, Mardel, and Dorothy; son-in-law, Karl M. Rotstan.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, At Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Fr. Fred Pausche will preside over a blessing. There will be a luncheon at the Painesville American Legion at 12:00 PM.
