Obituary

John J.  "Jack" Hribar passed away on January 19, 2022, at the age of 91, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Frank and Jennie (Krasovec) Hribar.

Jack served in the United States Army from 1953-1955.  Jack was an outstanding athlete in high school and college, excelling in both baseball and football.  He was recognized as an All-Ohio collegiate football player and was inducted into the Baldwin Wallace College Hall of Fame.  Jack used his love of sports and history to become a high school football coach and teacher for 30 years at Madison, Brecksville, Padua and Fairport.  After retiring, Jack enjoyed watching sports, reading, woodcarving, writing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sons, Scott (Sally) Hribar and Lee (Robin) Hribar; his daughter Michelle (George) Karayianopoulos, and his grandchildren, Sarah, Stephanie, Nick, Zack, Adam, Alexandra, Abraham, Mark, John, and Krista; as well as 10 great grandchildren Olivia, Emma, Mary, John, Lena, Maria, Frankie, Gemma, Emery and Logan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret (Heikkila) Hribar; his brother, Frank Hribar and his parents.

Private family services have been held.

A Celebration of life will be held July 9th at 2:00 at the Fairport Harbor VFW.
