Joseph D. Cardina, age 73, passed away at Hospice of the Western Reserve surrounded by his family, on January 24, 2018.
Joseph was born in Cleveland on August 19, 1944. He was a resident of Painesville, then moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, to expand his business in 1986. He returned to Painesville in 1995.
Joe graduated from Harvey High School in 1963. He was employed by Joseph Dyson and Sons before starting his own business in 1969. He was a past member of the Elks and Jaycees. He coached Little League and was one of the founders of the C L P Baseball League in Concord Township. He loved coaching and sports. Joe had a big heart and quick wit and could make anyone in a room laugh.
He was a loving husband father and grandfather, who's family was his greatest joy.
Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Saundra (McCue) Cardina; children, Philip Cardina, Christopher Cardina and Tracey Cardina (Scott) Timbrook; proud and loving "Papa" of Preston, Bradley (Kelsey), Sarah, Michael, Eric, Kaelyn Cardina, and Brett Zupan; sister, Concetta Cardina West; cousin, Carol (Square) Fearing; sister-in-law, Carol (McCue) Banker; brother-in-law, Barry (Judy) McCue; and several loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Cardina and Nancy (Venditti) Cardina; grandson, Blakely Allan Cardina; in-laws, James and Laura (Bellumori) McCue; brothers-in-law, Connard Banker and Devon West.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 28th from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. A service will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, January 29th at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in Joe's memory may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor, Ohio 44060.
