Joseph David Crawford
October 14, 1985 – October 24, 2026
Joseph “Joe” David Crawford, 41, of Newbury, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, following a two-year battle with heart failure.
Joe was born on October 14, 1985, in Augusta, Ga. His family moved to Painesville when he was one. He attended St. Mary School, Hobart Middle School, and Thomas W. Harvey High School in Painesville before moving to Georgia for his senior year, graduating from Greene County High School in Greensboro. He went on to earn multiple professional certifications in construction and related trades.
Joe was a man of many talents, a quick wit, and a remarkable mechanical mind. He had an extraordinary ability to understand how things worked. Whether it was cars, plumbing, electrical work, construction, concrete, or just about anything else, Joe could figure it out. His creativity and ingenuity led him to establish Crawford Custom Concepts, his construction and remodeling business, whose initials, CCC, also honored his late brother, Craig.
The oldest of four siblings, Joe was a natural protector with a larger-than-life personality. He was outgoing, goofy, generous, and always ready with a joke or a story. He loved music of all kinds, boating, cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs, spending time with friends and family, and finding reasons to have a good time. Joe lived life on his own terms and was never afraid to do things his own way.
Beyond his remarkable talents and ability to fix just about anything, Joe will be remembered for the laughter he brought, the generosity he showed, and the countless ways he left his mark on the people around him.
Joe is survived by his mother, Kimberly Crawford (née Cannon) of Painesville, Ohio; father, David Crawford of Union Point, Georgia; brother, Chris (Isabelle) Crawford of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; sister, Clare (Zach) Il’Giovine of Nashville, Tennessee; nephews, Caden Crawford and Luca Il’Giovine; niece, Cora Il’Giovine; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and his beloved dog, Slate.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Craig Cannon Crawford; uncle, Charles J. Cannon; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Patricia Cannon; and paternal grandparents, John (Honey) and Lillie Crawford.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the cardiology and LVAD teams at Cleveland Clinic for their exceptional care, compassion, and unwavering dedication to Joe throughout his journey with heart failure.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home in Painesville, Ohio. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m.
Joe's life was far too short, but the memories, laughter, and things he built along the way will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
