Obituary

Joseph D. Filchock, age 82, passed away May 7, 2023, at Governor's Point in Mentor, Ohio.  He was born July 30, 1940, in Brownsville, PA to Joseph F. and Ann (Kramar) Filchock.

Joseph served in the United States Marines.  He worked for Reliance Electric for many years and for Tradesman International in later years.

He enjoyed football, especially the Pittsburg Steelers, traveling with his wife, and keeping busy puttering around the house and running errands so he could visit all of his friends on the way.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Lena (Dreon) Filchock, who was his high school sweetheart; sons, Joseph J. (Mary Beth Sinn) Filchock and Paul B. Filchock; grandchildren, Kaitlynn (Bryan) Cooper and Marissa Filchock.

He was preceded in death by his son, David W. Filchock and his parents, Joseph F. and Ann (Kramar) Filchock, his in-laws, John and Olga Dreon; brother, Richard (Loretta) Filchock; sister, Joanne (Frank) Burkus; brothers-in-law, Louis Dreon and Ernest D. Dreon (Marget);  niece, Sherri Berthold; nephew, Ernest Dreon Jr. and brother-in-law, Rollan Masciarelli.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lucille Masciarelli, many nieces and nephews, a new great-grandchild on the way in October and a few grand dog children who he loved to visit with and give snacks.

Donations can be made to Miracle City Hospice, 9150 South Hills Blvd Suite 100, Broadview, Hts. OH 44147 and the family would like to thank Governor's Pointe and Miracle City Hospice for their great care.

Friends will be received 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Sunday May 14th, 2023, at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home in Painesville, Ohio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Monday, May 15th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville, OH.

Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
