Karen Eileen Brolund, age 73, passed away March 20, 2022, in Grand River, Ohio, surrounded by her family.  She was born March 23, 1948, in Painesville to William and Mildred (Benson) Hoerz who preceded her in death.

Karen was an accounting manager for McDonald Equipment in Willoughby.  She was a volunteer for Hospice of the Western Reserve for over 30 years and an active volunteer at Lake East Hospital and at Merrick Hutchinson School for many years.  Karen was also a member of the NEO Model-A Club.

Karen's home and her family were her top priority.  She loved to clean her home, bake, cook and she canned her own vegetables from her garden.  She had a green thumb and grew beautiful flowers.  Karen was also an accomplished seamstress, made many clothes for her family and enjoyed quilting.  Karen loved to travel, went to Hershey, PA annually for the part swaps, took several cruises and traveled all over the country in their Model A.

Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years and the love of her life, Gene Brolund and her children, Skip (Cindy) Brolund, (grandchild, Travis Steven); Lisa Brolund, (grandchild, Victoria); Scott (Robyn) Brolund; (grandchild, Elizabeth); sister, Dana (Bob) Remington, (Holly and Jeremy); brother, Bill Hoerz (Sarah and Stephanie).

Private graveside services for Karen will be held at Mentor Cemetery at a later date.
