Karen Marie Smith, age 63, passed away October 22, 2021, at Tri-Point Medical Center in Concord Township.  She was born May 10, 1958, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Charles R. and Geraldine (Keeney) Nedley.

Karen graduated from Fairport Harding High School in 1977.  She was a direct care staff member for Deepwood Center for over 20 years, most recently at the Willoughby Workshop. She loved helping people whenever she could, and she loved spending time with her family and friends. Karen had a special love for cats and alpacas, and she enjoyed listening to music, especially the Beatles, David Bowie and John Denver.

Karen is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Chris) Colonna of Eastlake and Ryan (John Brooks) Smith of Fairport Harbor; sisters, Victoria Youker of Concord Township, Charlotte Galm of Concord Township and Kathleen Crabtree of Fairport Harbor; granddaughter, Anastasia Colonna; nephews, Andy Rusnak, Richard Alanen, Vincent and Joseph Panzarella; and many great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Fairport Congregational Church, 308 Third Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio.   Private Family Services will follow.
