Memorial services for Kyle A. McClanahan, age 27, of Concord Township will be 10: 00 am Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Advent Lutheran Church, 7985 Munson Road, Mentor. Rev. Steve Bond will officiate. Family and friends may call from 4-8 pm Friday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville.

Kyle was the son of Robert and Denise (Ritter) McClanahan who was born on June 9, 1988 in St. Louis, Missouri, and passed away at his home on February 17, 2016.

Kyle was a twenty-year cancer survivor, having been treated two separate times for brain cancer, the second time with an autologous stem cell transplant, during which he had the shortest stay on record for this treatment at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital of just 14 days. Over the years, Kyle suffered many insults to his brain and body, but through it all he maintained a sweet and sunny disposition. Kyle's joys in life included watching movies, building with Legos and Knex, word search puzzles, jokes, riddles, and poetry, especially Shel Silverstein, traveling, and visits from family and friends, especially from aunts, uncles, and cousins. He attended Lake County Board of DD/Deepwood after graduating from Mentor High School. All who knew Kyle grew to love him and he leaves a huge hole for many. We especially thank Dr. Deborah Rukin Gold for her devotion to Kyle's quality of life.

He is survived by his parents and a brother Eric R. (Erin) McClanahan, maternal grandmother Alice Ritter and paternal grandmother, Louise McClanahan. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Roy C. Ritter, Jr., and paternal grandfather Henry McClanahan.
