Memorial services for Lillian E. Schuster, age 100, will be 10:00 am Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Mulqueeny-Spear Funeral Home 312 Eagle Street Fairport Harbor with Rev. Tina Green officiating.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio on July 15, 1914, the daughter of John and Julia (Stupar) Bordash was a resident of Fairport Harbor. She passed away on March 26, 2015 at the Kemper House of Mentor. Her family moved to Painesville, where she graduated from Harvey High School in 1933. Lillian and her husband, William Nyle Schuster moved to Fairport Harbor and established a strong interest in the community. They owned and operated the Schuster's Service Station across from the town park, as well as the Lake County Transportation Company.
Mrs. Schuster, a talented artist, became a charter member of the Lake County Creative Artists Association. She fostered her talent by attending a number of art classes given by art instructors. She took classes in design at Cleveland Institute of Art, Lakeland Community College, and Lake Erie College. During World War II, she taught first aid in Fairport Harbor and Grand River. Lillian was a member of the Fairport Friends of the Library, Fairport Historical Society. She was Treasurer of the Fairport Senior Center for many years, receiving recognition in 1989 by the Council of Aging. Also in 1989, she was awarded a 25 yr. plaque for outstanding service by the Lake County Election Board. She also was an active member of the Fairport Congregational Church.
Mrs. Schuster is survived by, Daughter, Bobette Kruter of Mentor Son, Samuel (Cindy) Schuster of Fairport Harbor Seven Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by, Husband, Willam Nyle Schuster in 2007 Son-in-Law, Edwin Kruter in 1997 Sister, Margaret Oberst The family wishes in lieu of flowers, contributions in Lillian's memory be made to the Fairport Congregational Church 308 Third Street, Fairport Harbor, OH 44077 or the Lake County Council on aging Meals–on-Wheels Program, 8520 East Avenue Mentor, OH 44060.
