Bonczek
April 20, 1951 – October 18, 2022
Marie J. Bonczek, age 71, of Fairport Harbor, passed away October 18, 2022 at University Hospitals, Cleveland. She was the daughter of Raymond Parkhurst and Pauline (Kelley). Marie was born in Willimantic, Connecticut. In 1974, she moved to Bainbridge, Pennsylvania, married the love of her life, and started a family. In 1982, the family moved again, and quickly fell in love with the small- town village life of Fairport Harbor where they have resided since.
Marie dedicated her time, energy, and love to the things that mattered most, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was passionate about her community and everyone in it. Marie was an active member of St. Anthony's of Padua and had many interests, including bowling, bingo, fish fries, catering, baking, playing cards with her friends, and spent years supporting her daughters and grandchildren in the various Fairport School District PTO and Booster Club organizations. She was actively involved in the Painesville Women's Choir, VFW Auxiliary, and the Fairport Harbor Mardi Gras. For 16 years, she enthusiastically delivered the News Herald morning newspaper door-to-door to her loyal clients. In 2018, she was honored as Fairport's Golden Beacon of the Year recipient.
Marie is survived by her husband of 47 years, William Bonczek, her daughters; Christina (Jeffrey) Gelhausen, Denise (Richard) Brunkala, and Eva (Andy) Friend. Brothers; Edward (Lynn) Parkhurst, Ray Parkhurst, William (Norma) Parkhurst, and Brad Parkhurst. Sisters; Debbie Zoladz and Sandra Smith. Grandchildren; Hollie Myers, Samantha (Matt) Clemens, Zachary Myers, Christopher Gelhausen, Nicholas (Kate) Bonczek, Olivia Bryant, Kayla Graney, Dylan Graney, Bryce Friend, and Madelyn Friend. Great Grandchildren; Adeline, Anna, and Gabriel.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her grandchild, Emily Helmick. Marie was loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and community.
A memorial mass for Marie will be held at 10:00am on Friday, October 21, 2022 at St. Anthony's of Padua, followed by a Celebration of Life social at the VFW in Fairport Harbor.
