Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Marjorie E. (Yanas) Deak will be 10 AM, Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Township, Ohio.   Family and friends may call 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.

Marjorie was born January 27th, 1947 in South Amboy, New Jersey.  In the same way she lived her life, Marjorie gracefully and peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on January 5, 2018 at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.  Marjorie was the type of person that everybody adored and fell in love with. She was the most genuine example of love, honesty, integrity, selflessness, morals, and empathy.  Our lives were truly blessed for having known her.

In 1992, Marjorie earned her Masters in Education from Ashland University.  During her 32 years in education, Marjorie mentored several new teachers and was an icon at Hale Road Elementary.  She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society.  Marjorie retired from the Riverside School District in 2010, after many years of teaching first grade at Hale Road Elementary School.  Marjorie was actively involved as a parishioner at St. Gabriel Church.  Many may remember Marjorie as a communion minister, alter server for funeral masses, principal of the PSR program, and treasurer of the Mission Circle. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Deak; daughters Margaret "Meg" (Keith) Skinner of Mentor, Karen (Michael) Lovick of Concord Township, Julie (Michael) Joy of Strongsville, and Bobbi (Brent) Bruner of Mentor; grandchildren, Kyle (Nicole Remesik) Skinner, Maddie Skinner, Mackenzie Skinner, Michael Lovick, Jr., Joseph Lovick, Riley Joy, Alyssa Joy, Danielle Joy, Emma Joy and Bobby Bruner; sisters, Joan Ogorek and Roberta (Charlie) Stepp; and sister-in-law Kathleen Coleman.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret (Sofield) Yanas; and sister, Sally Ambrose.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Marjorie's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, or Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital of Cleveland.
